A simple prompt structure
Good prompts usually include a role, a task, useful context, constraints, and the format you want back. This gives the AI model fewer things to guess.
Start with the outcome you need. Then add details such as audience, tone, length, examples, and any rules the answer should follow.
For repeat work, save prompts as templates. A reusable prompt is easier to improve than a fresh instruction written from scratch each time.
Quick checklist
- State the task in one clear sentence.
- Add context the AI needs to avoid generic output.
- Say what format you want, such as bullets, table, outline, or draft.
- Remove filler words that do not change the request.
- Test the prompt, then refine it based on the answer.
